Researchers at the University of South Florida have developed a patented technology called Here I Am that creates digital alibis by combining voice authentication with location data. This encrypted, unforgeable certificate can verify a person’s identity and presence at a specific location, offering applications in law enforcement, employee accountability, ride-sharing safety, financial security, and domestic abuse protection. Unlike traditional location tracking, which verifies only a device’s position, this innovation ensures the person operating the device is authenticated. By reading a message aloud, users generate a voice-recorded, cryptographically verifiable certificate tied to time and location, preserving the data securely for years.
